If you take a stroll around YouTube, you will find hundreds of videos from folks talking about president-elect Trump and Bible prophesy. Some Christians on the left say he is the Antichrist, while some Christians on the right say he is going to be some kind a savior sent to rescue the United States. Others bring up what’s called the 7 7 7 prophesy, where they mix Trumps age, birthday, and the Hebrew calendar as proof of their theory. And, still others claim to have had visions or dreams about Trump delivered to them by God Himself.
Most of the people producing these videos do their best to present a compelling argument, and I must say that many of them are very interesting and well presented. But I also must remind everyone that we have had similar claims about presidents Bush and Obama, and dozens of other political leaders throughout modern history.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not here to tear down anyone’s research, or presentations about what they believe about the kind of president Trump will be. What I am here to say, is that every one of us needs to employ a bit of discernment when watching and considering what all these folks are saying, because there is no way that they are all correct, and only time will tell what kind of president Trump will be.
Just stop for a minute and think about how many of these doomsday seekers were absolutely sure that when we hit the year 2000 the world was going to come to an end. When that didn’t happen, many latched onto the Mayan calendar and the year 2012 as proof the world was going to end. And, even more recently, there were folks pumping out books and videos about the blood moons and super moons. But none of their doomsday predictions came to pass.
Personally, I do believe that the world has seen many antichrists that have been, and are currently in positions of power. Just look at how they have set the world on fire, caused death and destruction on a massive scale, and pitted people against each other in so many ways, but so far, none has proven to be THE Antichrist spoken of in Bible prophesy.
Now, I don’t claim to be some super Bible scholar, nor do I play one on TV. I am also not an o’ holier than thou hypocrite here to beat you down with tales of fire and brimstone while diddling hookers in a seedy motel. In fact, as much as I personally work to be a better man, and a good Christian every day, I still make Jesus facepalm … a lot.
All that aside, here’s a few verses from the New King James Bible to keep in mind when watching many of these Trump and Bible prophesy videos:
In Matthew 24: 36, a section of the chapter titled “No One Knows the Day or Hour” we read: But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
And in 2 Thessalonians, we read: Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
So everyone, please, use some discernment, and know that just about every world event, new leader, or natural disaster will have many of these folks running out to show you how it’s ‘proof’ that the end is nigh. And although I do believe there are many things going on in the world that point to the end times as depicted in the Bible, you must remember that many these folks need to keep you hyped up, because they have books to sell you, and donations they want you to make.
What we need to do as Christians is simply be ready for Christ’s return at any moment, and the balance of the verses in Matthew 24:36 – 24:44 make that pretty clear.
No One Knows the Day or Hour
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
So please everyone, keep a cool head. There is enough turmoil coming our way with the transfer of power from Obama to Trump. We know that the Democrats, George Soros, establishment Republicans, and the freedom hating United Nations globalists are not going to take Trumps election as the next president of the United States lightly.
Instead of getting caught up in the hype, here are a few things you can do:
Continue to prepare yourself spiritually, mentally, and physically for any turmoil that lies ahead. Having faith in God does not require a big fancy church, or filling a donation plate. Faith starts with you developing a personal relationship with Jesus.
Take that extra few minutes to appreciate your family and friends, and simply tell them you love them. Personally, I try to never end a conversation with my family without saying “I love you.”
Commit some random act of kindness that will brighten someone’s day, and remind them that there is good in the world. Your one random act of kindness could be what makes a pivotal difference in that stranger’s life.
And, do some prepping so you have what you need on hand to care for and protect those you love when times get tough. Just knowing you have the food and supplies on-hand to feed and protect your family can take a hidden burden off the back of your mind, and free you to focus on more important tasks.
